Your Ultimate Guide To Manly Wynnum
As a local real estate agent in the beautiful Bayside area of Brisbane, I often get asked by buyers and sellers alike about the best things to see and do in Manly and Wynnum. So, as someone who has grown up in the area, it is my absolute pleasure to offer some insider tips on how to make the most of this stunning part of the world.

First up, let's talk about Manly. This charming coastal suburb is known for its beautiful marina, beach spots, quaint boutique style shops, and waterfront restaurants, bars and patisseries where salty hair and sandy feet are welcome. Whether you're looking to soak up the sun, browse the local Sunday markets, enjoy a spot of fishing or boating, or simply enjoy a stroll along the boardwalk, Manly has something for everyone. And as a local real estate agent, I can tell you that the property market in this area has not stopped heating up. Recent sales have shown that buyers are willing to pay top dollar for a slice of Manly paradise, so if you're looking to invest in property here, or relocate for an idyllic lifestyle, now is definitely the time to do it!
The same goes for Wynnum. In fact, some recent sales have gone for well above the asking price, highlighting just how competitive the market is becoming with inter-state migration and infrastructure developments in and around Brisbane city. This delightful suburb is known for its laid-back atmosphere, friendly locals, and stunning waterfront views - and if you're a fan of fishing or boating, you'll be in heaven here, with plenty of opportunities to cast your line or take your boat out for a spin. And for those who love to explore, Wynnum is home to some great walking and cycling trails.

As a local real estate agent and fellow resident of the beautiful Bayside area of Brisbane, let me tell you, Manly and Wynnum have plenty to offer! Here are some of my top picks for things to do, from events and festivals to check out, health and fitness activities, fishing and recreation spots, and shopping destinations in the area.
Things to do:
- Take a stroll along the picturesque Manly Harbour Village, where you can admire the beautiful boats, browse local shops and cafes, and soak up the relaxed seaside atmosphere.
- Explore the stunning Moreton Bay on a cruise or get soaked at the Wynnum Whale Park!
- Spend a day at Pandanus Beach, where you can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking on the grassy foreshore.
- Head to the Wynnum Wading Pool, a popular spot for families with young children to splash around in the shallow waters.
- Movies in the park! The first Saturday of every month, a free movie is on offer for locals. Bring a rug, a cushion or chair and relish in the family entertainment under the stars.
Events and Festivals:
- For all those arts, crafts and music lovers, the Wynnum Fringe Festival is certainly a highlight on the Wynnum calendar as hundreds of artists converge on the bayside over three weeks to celebrate non-mainstream arts, entertainment, and cultural experiences. From comedy to music and everything in-between it’s jammed packed with star-studded performances and special events for the whole family!
- The Wynnum Halloween Parade should definitely not be missed! Kids can trick or treat in and around the local shops and businesses who all decorate their shopfronts and windows before the action commences.
- The Wynnum Seafood Festival, wow, just wow! It is a must-visit event for seafood lovers, featuring fresh seafood, live music, and plenty of family-friendly activities.
- The Manly Harbour Village Christmas Carols are a festive tradition, featuring carols, fireworks, and a visit from Santa Claus. This oozes family fun vibes and the village just looks spectacular lit up.
- The annual Manly Jazz Festival brings together talented musicians from around the country, with performances in various venues throughout the area. Definitely worth adding to your calendars!

Health & Fitness
- Are you a Yogie? Book yourself in for a Yoga or Pilates class at a local studio, such as Yoga Bayside Wynnum or Q1 Flow that specialises in Aerial Yoga. A great way to make new friends if you’re new to the area or and amongst the fun with the locals.
- Take a refreshing dip at the iconic 1930’s Manly Wading Pool. The heritage-listed, oval-shaped tidal pool was built in 1932 by relief workers during the Great Depression and opened to the public in 1933. Certainly something to see!
- Walk, jog, or cycle along the scenic waterfront pathway, which stretches from Wynnum to Lota and offers stunning views of the bay and Islands!

Fishing and Recreation:
- The Wynnum Jetty is a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts, with plenty of space to and catch some fish (and maybe enjoy a few cheeky cold ones).
- For hikers, the Wynnum Mangrove Boardwalk is a peaceful and scenic spot for a stroll, offering glimpses of local wildlife such as crabs, birds, and fish.
- The Manly Boat Harbour is a hub for boating and water sports, with plenty of opportunities to hire equipment or take lessons in sailing, windsurfing, and more. I may be biased but I'm not sure it gets any better to be honest?

Shopping:
- The Manly Creative Markets are held on the first and third Saturday of every month, offering a wide variety of handmade crafts, jewelry, fashion, and food.
- The Manly Harbour Village Farmers Markets are held every Sunday, offering fresh produce, artisanal products, and live music. Throw on some sneakers, grab a basket (and a coffee) and stock up on your weekly cooking ingredients for a healthy variety (and a portion of the expense!).
- If you're a bit of a trendsetter who enjoys supporting local businesses, you'll love exploring the many artisan shops in the area. Some of my favourites are Ebb and Flo, located in the heart of Manly. The boutique's collection is for any lovely lady who appreciates high-quality, timeless pieces with a modern twist. Whilst they offer a range of clothing, accessories, and homewares that cater to women of all ages and styles, this shop is particularly popular amongst yummy mummies or soon-to-be mummy’s. From flowy boho dresses to tailored blazers, this beautiful store is definitely worth a visit! And the staff are lovely too.
- If you’re a sucker for sophisticated homeware designs, Cultivate Design Co is unmissable! You’ll find a unique curation of home decor, plants, original artwork, prints, photography, soft furnishings, lighting, ceramics, glassware, lifestyle products, books, gifts, jewellery and more.
- Don’t worry guys, we haven’t forgotten you. Sonny Jim is a locally-owned shop for men which offers quality fashion and gifts. And I must say, it is highly rated by the gents around this town!
- The Collective Store is also a true local gem. Primarily because the owners support all Australian designers and brands. And boy do they select some beautiful pieces. Got to love Aussies who support other Aussies!
These are just a few of amazing retail shops in the area … remember to shop and support local!

Real Estate:
As a local real estate agent, I can attest to the fact that Manly and Wynnum are highly desirable areas for buyers looking for a relaxed, coastal lifestyle. These suburbs emulate character and class whilst offering a wide range of housing options, from cozy cottages to spacious waterfront homes, making them appealing to families, couples, and retirees alike. I can also tell you that the real estate market in Bayside Brisbane is highly sought after, particularly with the close proximity to Brisbane's CBD. According to April, 2023 statistics sourced from realestate.com.au, the median house price in Manly is around $1,210,000, while in Wynnum it is around $972,000. These figures reiterate the high demand for properties in the area, as well as the strong growth in property prices over the years. This has made the market increasingly competitive, with limited supply and high demand. For sellers, these statistics are great news, as property prices continue to rise. However, for buyers, it can be challenging to find a property that meets their budget. That's why working with a knowledgeable and experienced real estate agent who understands the local market is essential to help you navigate the market and start living your real estate dreams.

Whilst a new & fulfilling life in Manly or Wynnum sells itself, I always advise my buyers to experience the neighborhood for themselves. So, whether you're a local resident or interested in relocating, be sure to check out all that Manly and Wynnum have to offer.
